Don Richard Ashburn
(1927-1997) born at Tilden, Madison County. Professional
baseball player, broadcaster, columnist, known for defensive
ability as an outfielder with a career batting average of .308
from 1948 to 1962, he established several National League records;
inducted into National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997. Consult
