Max A. Baer

(1909-1959) born in Omaha. Professional boxer, actor, during 12 years as a professional boxer, he appeared in 83 fights, winning 70 of them, 52 by knockouts, and was 1934 heavyweight champion of the world; elected to The Ring's Boxing Hall of Fame in 1968, and held distinction of appearing in first prizefight to be televised on June 1, 1939 by WNBT-TV in New York City.
