Eugene A. Budig
(1939- ) born at McCook, Red Willow County, lived
in Lincoln. Journalist, university president, executive, served
as top official of three colleges from 1973 to 1994, including
the University of Kansas, where he helped raise a record $790
million from private sources for improvement of academics;
served as president of American League of major league baseball
from 1994 to 1999 where he was involved in settling a strike,
administered ownership changes for several clubs, and baseball-only
