Paul D. Foote
(1888-1971) lived in Lincoln. Physicist, educator,
business executive, involved significantly in the early
development of the optical glass industry and in developing
the first standards for using x-ray equipment in hospitals,
served as director of research for Gulf Oil Corporation,
and later as assistant secretary of defense for research
and engineering, elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
