Clark Gable
(1901-1960) lived at Kearney. Actor, considered "the King of Hollywood" during
the Golden Era
of the motion picture industry, he appeared in more than 70 movies, often opposite
the era's most popular
actresses, and was leading box-office attraction for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio
for almost 30 years,
appeared on cover of Time, August 31, 1936; was stationed in spring of 1943 at
Kearney Army Air Field; his
star was placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 and his wife Carole Lombard
was honored with a
