Howard M. Baldrige Jr.
(1922-1987) born in Omaha. Businessman and political
aide, served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and considered
most influential Commerce Secretary since Herbert Hoover
in the 1920s, advocate of fair trade practices; posthumous
recipient of Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1988. Consult
