Earl O. Heady
(1916-1987) born near Imperial, Chase County, lived in Lincoln
and Omaha. Agricultural economist, educator, author, became
known as one of the world's foremost experts an farm management
and production economics, co-founded and directed Center for
Agricultural and Rural Development at Iowa State University
from 1958 to 1983, served as consultant to more than 40 foreign
governments, authored 22 books, including his landmark Economics
of Agricultural Production and Resource Use (1952), and involved
in writing more than 800 journal articles; awards include membership
in Royal Swedish Academy of Science and Soviet Academy of Agricultural
Sciences, nomination for Nobel Prize in Economics in 1981.
