Edgar S. Hickey
(1902-1980) born near Reynolds, Jefferson County,
lived in Spalding, Greeley County, and in Omaha. Athletic coach,
during 26 years as head basketball coach at three universities,
including Creighton, he achieved a record of 436 wins and 231
losses; was credited with introducing "three-lane fast
break" offense in 1940s, and inducted into Naismith Memorial
Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979; previously coached at Creighton
Prep in Omaha. Consult Saturday Evening Post, February 25,
