Martin E. Marty

(1928- ) born at West Point, Cuming County, lived in Battle Creek, Madison County. Minister, educator, journalist, considered a noteworthy scholar and most influential popularizer of religion in America during the latter four decades of the 20th century, author or co-author of 50 books, editor or co-editor of 50 publications and several magazines, including Christian Century, recipient of three book awards, and granted over 50 honorary degrees.
