Rose C. O'Neill

(1874-1944) lived in Battle Creek and Omaha. Illustrator and writer, created first elf-like creature illustration to accompany magazine stories in 1909 that became known as Kewpies, which later became copies on dolls, drawings, and other objects that people collected; she is credited with writing and illustrating more than 5,000 Kewpie stories.
