Claire E. Owens
(1876-1966) born near Exeter, Fillmore County. Osteopath,
legislator, educator, taught for 19 years as a public school
music teacher at Exeter, Geneva, and Fairmont, Nebraska,
was an osteopath for almost 45 years, served two terms in
the Nebraska State Legislature, thought to be first blind
public school teacher in the nation, and the first blind
