James V. Risser Jr.
(1938- ) born in Lincoln. Lawyer, journalist, educator, recipient
of 1976 and 1979 Pulitzer Prizes for national reporting, first
for exposing corruption in U.S. grain exporting industry and
for articles showing the destructive impact of American agriculture
on the environment, while he was with the Des Moines Register
for 20 years; director of John S. Knight Fellowships for Professional
