George H. Sauer Sr.
(1910-1994) born at Stratton, Hitchcock County,
lived in Lincoln. College and professional football player,
coach, educator, executive, was coach on the college level
for 14 years with three bowl appearances, then coach/general
manager of the New York Titans, and director of player personnel
for the New York Jets, who won Super Bowl for 1968 season,
was also general manager of the New England Patriots and the
