Terrance G. Sawchuk
(1929-1970) lived in Omaha. Professional hockey player, ranked as one
of the best
goaltenders in the history of the National Hockey League, he played 20 seasons
with teams in Detroit, Boston,
Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York, and out of 953 games played, he recorded
103 shutouts and allowed an
average of only 2.52 goals per game, inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame in 1971;
played with Omaha Knights
in United States Hockey League during 1947-48 season, earning USHL Outstanding
Rookie Award. Consult
