Wendy Lucero-Schayes
(1963- ) lived in Lincoln. Athlete, broadcast journalist,
participated in competitive diving and swimming for ten years,
and became the first Hispanic diver to win the NCAA one-meter
diving championship in 1985 and to win the America Cup II championship
in three-meter diving in 1987 and the first U.S. Hispanic to
win a silver medal in the World Championships in 1991; participated
in the 1988 Olympics, won nine national titles, and several
medals in international events; appeared on national television
as sports commentator, and hosted local talk show in Denver.
