Theophilus G. Steward
(1843-1924) lived at Fort Niobrara, Cherry County. Clergyman,
author, educator,
after serving as minister from 1862 for the African Methodist
Episcopal Church, he was chaplain with the 25th
Infantry Regiment for 16 years, taught at Wilberforce University
in Ohio, and authored several books, pamphlets,
and newspaper articles. Consult his autobiography From
