Theos J. Thompson
(1918-1970) born in Lincoln. Physicist, nuclear engineer,
educator, known as the builder of the first privately owned
nuclear reactor in New England in the mid-1950s, he also contributed
to the safety of nuclear reactors by heading an Atomic Energy
Commission committee that wrote a manual on the subject; confirmed
by U.S. Senate as member of AEC in 1969, he was recipient of
Ernest O. Lawrence Memorial Award in 1964 for outstanding contributions
