Theos J. Thompson

(1918-1970) born in Lincoln. Physicist, nuclear engineer, educator, known as the builder of the first privately owned nuclear reactor in New England in the mid-1950s, he also contributed to the safety of nuclear reactors by heading an Atomic Energy Commission committee that wrote a manual on the subject; confirmed by U.S. Senate as member of AEC in 1969, he was recipient of Ernest O. Lawrence Memorial Award in 1964 for outstanding contributions to nuclear research. Consult Omaha World Herald Magazine, November 18, 1956, p.
