What do you get for your Affiliate Membership dues?
- All
twelve editions of the electronic Nebraska Newspaper magazine, which
is considered the best of
its kind in the nation. This publication reports on the
industry in the state and, when
applicable, the nation. It is sent by email each month.
- Invitations
to participate in our annual State Conventions, one traditionally
held
in
either Kearney or Lincoln in April.
More than 250 persons
attend our Annual April Convention. This provides a good
opportunity to converse
with publishers, editors and reporters from all parts of
Nebraska. Affiliates
also can, at
their option, attend its workshops and banquets.
- Invitations
to participate in any workshops or seminars that are held
throughout
the
year.
What does it cost?
Our fee structure is simple: $30 annual membership.
Affiliates may receive the bulletin "Green Sheet" for
$40 per year. We bill for the bulletin and annual membership
in November. Membership and the bulletin subscription runs from January 1 – December 31.
If you have been an employee
of a Nebraska newspaper you are eligible to become an affiliate
member. More than 45 individuals have joined our Affiliate
ranks. We make every effort to make them feel welcome and
to serve them.
Some facts about the Nebraska Press Association:
- It is the oldest trade association in the state, first meeting in 1873. It includes all but one weekly and two daily newspapers in Nebraska, one of the dailies being a legal-oriented publication.
- Its membership includes more than 185 newspapers, of which 17 are daily and the remainder published once, twice or three times a week.
- More than 850,000 persons subscribe to NPA member newspapers.
- The Association is housed in a building it owns at 845 "S" Street, Lincoln, and is staffed by seven persons.
